Each week, I’ll be giving you a profile on two Downtown Farmers’ Market vendors.
Last week, June 6th, I went down to the market with my wife and daughter. We could barely take two steps without seeing more community members, caring local supporters, and dedicated volunteers. There were double the amount of vendors at this year’s opening than last year. 30 different local food producers, crafters, soap makers, artists, and more are waiting for you to visit.
Here are the two interviews/profiles for Week 1.
Brian Hyland of Hylander Farms (in Essex) describes why they’re supplying cuts of home-grown meat at the market. They have been doing this for 20 years, and are happy to be at the Downtown Market. I especially love that he non-sarcastically says, “We’ll meet (meat) their needs,” during this interview!
Ron Drouillard, a positive fixture downtown, was with Paul…talking about the virtues of worm poo. Yes. Worm feces. You can buy it at the market to infuse your garden with nitrogen and other goodies found in the left-overs of worms. Zero acidity, and chemical free fertilizer is the best description of the merits of worm #2. Listen to Paul and Ron discuss the product they’re representing. P.S. We bought some.

You’re doing a fantastic job Tom on this blog of introducing us to “our” Locals!
