Beth Hebert is the "eye of the hurricane". Her amazing organizational skills and meticulous preparation of orchestral parts are integral to our orchestra's award-winning performances. We are able to accomplish more in rehearsals than most orchestras expressly because of all the fabulous work she does in the "bank vault" ...BRAVO BETH!!!

I should have posted this in each post about the Windsor Community Museum.

Thanks Wilkie for pointing out this detail.

Windsor's Community Museum in downtown Windsor is less than five minutes' walking distance from the banks of the Detroit River. This museum features exhibits of artifacts and artwork that relate to the history and culture of Windsor. Some of the artifacts at Windsor's Community Museum include an early 20th century police callbox, a Detroit River ferry ticket dating back to the early 19th century and a violin that was created in 1792. "By the River's Edge," one of the museum's permanent collections, has artwork that dates back to the early 19th century.

[...] Strips of Windsor’s history have been unearthed on Pelissier. Streetcar tracks, part of the country’s first ever light rail system built in 1886 and dismantled in 1937, were revealed when construction crews tore up the street. Streetcar tracks can also be seen embedded in the intersection of Sandwich and Mill streets in the city’s west end. [...]

I think I saw one of his pictures on a building today! It was on University ave west between Rankin and Randolph, and it was on the side of a blue building. It depicted a little boy spray painting a heart.

I really like Banksy's work and was excited to find out he was visiting in Canada, so I've been on the look out for any of his stuff. Check the building out and tell we what you think. It's near Atkinson park. :)

The plastic boxes marked "electric" are normally found near objects that are fed power through underground means (ie. street lights, etc.). Instead of climbing a pole to turn off a light to work on it, or putting the wiring junction in the middle of the pole, they put those items in the sidewalk adjacent in a non-conducting plastic enclosure.

The City of Windsor traverse station is used for surveying. For a very thorough explanation: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/policy/army/fm/6-2/Ch5.htm

The boxes marked water may be shut offs for buildings on a sidewalk. At a house, the water shutoff is on the property line, but where the property abuts a sidewalk, they'd have to put the shutoff in the sidewalk.

Hope that doesn't spoil the guesssing :)

Fords old cast iron foundary (since demolished) was commissioned to cast a whole bunch of the Sewer covers with the fish on them in the late '90's. Haven't seen too many around, though.
